French Artist Party (and a giveaway)

Mac's 9th Bday 13
Today we celebrate 9 years of my precious Pretty Girl.

We celebrate this soft natured and determined child, so fearfully and wonderfully made.  We celebrate this girl who is so hard on herself to get things right.  We celebrate the reader, the gymnast, the athlete, the pajama day loving girl who often visibly digs deep to find courage when her still growing self-confidence tries to hold her back.

Today we celebrate 3285 days of this ‘Big Hug’ giver, this delicious coffee maker, this fun loving-dancing-singing-crafting good and perfect gift from up above.  Our hearts are full; stretched wide and deep by love for this particular child.

Pretty Girl knows how to work a birthday.  This June baby is already planning and theme thinking her birthday by ApriI.  I adore how excited she gets for her birthday.  It appears that her excitement is contagious because I love throwing her a party – here is how we celebrated 8!

This year was a little different because Pretty Girl had decided quite early on that she wanted an Artjamming party.  While fabulous, the cost of an Artjamming Party can increase rather quickly so after lengthy decisions and debates we were agreed: Artjamming but for a handful of friends only.

We built a party theme around the art part and soon our “French Artist” party was a go.

Choosing the food was simple.  We had enormous freshly baked Pain au Chocolat, Crepes with Nutella and beautiful fresh baguettes with cheese. The kiddos tucked in and half way through I needed to whip up some more crepes.  I loved that there were no heavily loaded sugar sweets or crisps and I especially loved that not one child seemed to miss them.

Pretty Girl had asked for this chocolate cake but because I think she may have outgrown the novelty cake (hoorah!) I decided to do a little violet ombre on the cake and finish it with sprinkles and flags.  Despite the colour calling itself electric purple, the icing came out blue. Folks, when you are icing cakes at 7 am on the day of the party – blue is the new purple.

Did you notice all the gorgeous French Party Printables? I do love the idea of matchy matchy party décor, invitations and other bits and bobs.  As luck would have it French party theme décor is not exactly on every party store’s shelf.

Far be it for me to boast, but – I know people!

My dear sweet friend Candi who is a most talented and happy girl designed and created the French themed invitations and all the party décor for me.  Candi is actually the lady behind the Arty Party portfolio of DESIGN • COPY • PRINT.  One of her many talents is the ability to bring to life party ideas.  In fact, she created this French theme especially for me from a page long email of links to things I had seen and liked. Candi is truly amazing!

The week of the party I received a shoot date change which meant that I ended up on set the entire day before the party.  As this is usually when I pretty together a party, having all these DESIGN • COPY • PRINT Arty Party printables delivered and ready to go literally saved the day!

Along with the invitations I had also ordered beautiful bunting for the doors, fold over cards to label the food, flag tags which I used on the cake and on the straws and I used the party hat / cone design as crepe servers. Along with the beautiful “Merci” thank you tags, I was set up in minutes.

Now, I have already mentioned how truly amazing Candi is but I am about to give you a reason to agree!  Candi is gifting a DESIGN • COPY • PRINT voucher to the value of an amazing R 500 to one very lucky Pomegranate Days reader.  Whoop!

The voucher is redeemable on your own choice of Arty Party Printables and Candi herself will customize your invitations.  The winner will be able to choose between Pretty Girl’s French Theme shown in this blog post or any of the other designs already available in Candi’s portfolio. The best part my dear Party People – it does not matter where or what you are celebrating because Candi will post this party package of happiness anywhere in South Africa.

Please enter on this Rafflecopter entry box.  You will be required to comment on this blog post to enter.  You will be given the option to follow DESIGN • COPY • PRINT and Pomegranate Days on Facebook for extra entries.  You may also follow me on Twitter and / or tweet about the giveaway for extra entries. The giveaway closes on Wednesday 2nd July, winners will be drawn via Rafflecopter and I will announce the winner on Thursday 3rd July 2014.

Wonderful theme and beautifully put together! I’ve never got to the decor side of a party and don’t think I ever will, but appreciate it when others do it with style. My Middle Daughter turns 14 next week so too soon for this prize! She wants a grown up treasure hunt with a mystery and coded clues, so I’m going to have to work hard this weekend thinking it up! Happy Birthday to your artist!

Thank you Kit. My husband and I are a great team – he does the games and I do the pretty! I love a treasure hunt – enjoy the planning, at least a little distraction from all the visa drama.

Thanks Taryn in my mind I think I wanted a purple pink a bit like the napkins so that the cake was more of a WOW! I didn’t hate the understated wow of the bluey violet, it was just a little meh! Barney purple might just have been spot on *shudders* 😉

Hey that is a nice cake and I love the French printables. I must look on Candi’s website. You have given me a good idea for Anneke’s party coming up in September (also turning 9)! Jillian.

Thanks Jill! I don’t think the French printables are on her site just yet as they were made especially for me this month! Our girls – both so tall and almost little ladies – lets try not to feel 100 years just old! PS Tell Candi I sent you 😉
